Occupy Oakland Protest Police Brutality With Call To Strike

Uploaded by on Oct 29, 2011

One day after Oakland police, along with other agencies, forcibly evicted the Occupy Oakland protesters from their downtown encampment in Frank Ogawa Plaza, the protests continued en masse as some 3,000 people participated in the occupiers' General Assembly.

Many at the protest said that they had come to show solidarity with the movement after seeing the Oakland police use tear gas, and other munitions, to disband the previous night's protest that involved a head injury suffered by Iraq war veteran Scott Olsen.

As the chain fences that police had erected around the park were dismantled and the plaza was reclaimed by the occupiers, the General Assembly voted on and called for a general strike to be held the following Wednesday, November 2.
